Kruger Response "Criticizing Photographs..."

I admired the way Terry interpreted Kruger's "Surveillance is your busywork". Specifically, Terry noted the black and white color scheme of the artwork, and the meaning of the text. However, I see this work of art a bit differently. To start off, I believe the text relates to people constantly being watched. There is always someone outside looking in: it could be God, a surveillance camera, another person, or even one's conscience.
In my opinion, Kruger chose the black and white theme to represent some obscurity. There exists a hidden element when someone is watching. Most of us, all live life rather routinely, so there is not even a worry to realize how often a person is being watched. The darkness of Kruger's work illustrates that the person watching is unknown and unnoticed.
Now I wanted to connect Jenny Holzer's Selection from 'Living 1980-1982. I think Holzer's words relate to what I am trying to say about Kruger's "Surveillance is your busywork". I think the Holzer's words have to do with a tough situation or difficult decision. When it comes down to it, would you rather run to the back and observe how things unfold? Or would you take a stand and do what you believe needs to be done? I also believe the last line refers to people facing themselves. In other words, accepting who they truly are and being proud of it.
