Jenny Holzer: Truisms Response

Out of all the readings so far, I truly enjoyed reading these different aphorisms. Because of the characteristics that truisms have, all of these sayings have some, more or less, truth to them. That is why I decided to use this picture that I found. The words "This is not set in stone" cannot be anymore false. We can clearly see that those indentations are definitely set into stone.
This brings me to the aphorism I wanted to talk about. "A man can't know what it is to be a mother". In my opinion, this is as true as it gets. It is what it is. No matter how men try to imitate or compare the life of a mother, they can never understand what it is to be a mother. Biologically, a man is a man and a woman is a woman. That, in itself, demonstrates how men will never understand how being a mother is like. They cannot even empathize because they just don't know how it is. Reasons are: men don't give birth, they don't have the same anatomy, they don't have social pressures of constantly looking beautiful, and they can never share that bond between a mother and her baby. Of course, there are many more things that can be stated. I suppose when it comes down to it, that is just how it has to be. A man cannot even be a mother. Therefore, men will never truly comprehend what it is to be a mother.
